Zhang Ziyi was born on February 9, 1979 in Beijing. She is one of the foremost Chinese actresses to be nominated for BAFTA Award. At the age of 11, Zhang joined the Beijing Dance Academy. While she was in a boarding school, she noticed how catty the other girls were while competing for status amongst the teachers. She disliked the attitude so much, that on one occasion, she ran away from the school.

When she was 19, Zhang was offered her first role in Yimou's The Road Home. For her excellent role in Zhang was appreciated all over the world as the film won Silver Bear award in the 2000 Berlin Film Festival. Further, the actress rose to fame due to her role as the headstrong Jen (Chinese version: Xia Long) in the globally successful Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. For her role in the film, she won the Independent Spirit's Best Supporting Actress Award and the Toronto Film Critics' Best Supporting Actress Award.

In the Hollywood world, Zhang’s first appearance in an American movie was in Rush Hour 2. In the film, she couldn’t speak English fluently. During the shootings, Jackie Chan had to translate everything the director said to her. In the movie, her character's name Hu Li is translated from Mandarin Chinese to ‘Fox.’

Very popularly appeared in Hero, with her early mentor Yimou, which was a huge success in the English-speaking world and an Oscar and a Golden Globe contender. Her next film was the avant-garde drama Purple Butterfly. Starring many of the best-known Chinese actors and actresses, Zhang was the female lead and won the Hong Kong Film Critics' Best Actress Award and the Hong Kong Film Academy's Best Actress Award.

Zhang landed the lead role in the film adaptation of the international bestseller Memoirs of a Geisha. For the film, she reunited with her co-star Gong Li and with her Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon co-star Michelle Yeoh. Apart from her excellent role in various Chinese and Hollywood, Zhang is a notable fashion icon and her wardrobe is largely admired by fashion icons. Zhang Ziyi Hairstyles are sexy, soft and vibrant. Let’s observe some of the actress’ best hairstyles.

Popular Zhang Ziyi Hairstyles:

Soft and Simple

In this soft and simple style this Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon star looks gorgeous. To create this soft and simple hairdo, the actress trimmed her tresses in multiple layers. Then the top section was cut in a manner that added volume to the style. To create this style the actress uses certain techniques that include blow dry and the use of a curling iron. Recommended products for the design include mousse, gel spray, smoothing shine, and lacquer.

Powerful Layers

At the 12th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, the actress created some attractive layers that made her hair look ravishing. In the style, the actress trimmed her tresses into soft shaped face-framing layers. The sides were perfectly set to complement her look. To create this stunning style, the actress used hot rollers and blow dry process. This style is a great choice for oval, round, heart, diamond, and triangular shaped faces. This style can be easily maintained with regular trims.
