Combination Hair: Balancing your hair statement

Hair is as important as any fashion accessory such as jewellery, make-up or apparel. Great looking hair certainly steals glances and is the key to developing self confidence. There are various types of hair such as dry hair, normal hair, greasy hair and combination hair. Hair is made up of a protein called Keratin and grows from a hair follicle. Every individual has different hair texture, volume and color. Combination hair is a mixture of both greasy and dry hair. It is usually long and is very greasy at the scalp and has dry split ends. These ends are difficult to set smoothly and are lighter in color than the roots. Combination hair can be treated by the use of more conditioner at the ends of the hair shaft and by avoiding fried, spicy food stuffs as well as chocolates and candies.

Perfect Hair Care

There are a number of ways to treat combination hair. By using the right kind of products damaged hair can be protected significantly. Healthy hair is a crucial aspect of an individual’s personality. Combination type of hair requires proper grooming, oiling, massaging, conditioning as well as nurturing.

Grooming Tips for great hair:

Brushing: Brushing is the most important part of hair care. It improves blood circulation and stimulates the scalp helping in the distribution of natural oils to the hair ends. A flat paddle shaped or radial brush is suitable for combination type of hair. If brushing is done on a regular basis the scalp will gradually secrete less oil. Regular brushing plays a vital role in maintaining strong healthy and luxuriant hair.

Oiling: This is essential for nourishing the roots and giving a gleaming healthy look to hair. It is necessary to oil all types of hair regularly. You can select from Aloe Vera oil, almond oil, olive oil, coconut oil etc.

Shampoo: This is the best way to clean the hair and groom it. It is advisable not to use very hot water for wetting the hair as the strands are susceptible to extreme heat and hot water results in damaging it. It is recommended that you use lukewarm water. It is necessary for you to try a couple of shampoos in order to decide which one is ideal for your scalp. You must avoid using shampoos that are formulated for oily hair as this might worsen the condition of the dry tips of your locks. Avoid applying it directly to the scalp and let it flow to the ends of your hair. It is also recommended that you do not apply shampoo to the tips as this will wash off the oil leaving your hair dry. You must comb your hair thoroughly before shampooing it and rinse it properly while washing it. Well rinsed hair has a clear shiny appearance and does not harm or damage the hair.

Conditioning: This adds brilliance to all types of hair and makes the hair noticeably thicker by adding volume. Combination hair needs more conditioning at the ends of the hair and less at the roots.

Drying: Dry your hair naturally. Drape a dry, fluffy towel over your head without twisting your hair for ten minutes. Remove the towel and allow it to dry completely. Do not comb wet tangled hair as this damages it. You can use a hair drier but it is advisable to avoid its continuous use as it causes split ends.

Proper hair care is essential in order to tame your tresses. Healthy locks are a great way to add vitality to your personality. Almost 60% of your looks are determined by your hair. A shiny well styled flowing mane can land you on the cover page of a magazine. Better still, it enhances your overall personality and adds to your good looks. A healthy diet, proper rest and hair care are essential to get gorgeous hair. Also, drink a lot of water as this keeps your scalp hydrated and prevents the secretion of oil.
