Shiny Hair Tips

Hair is one of the most important features of an individual. It acts as a natural fashion accessory of the body that can be styled, colored, beautified as well as braided. It is an inseparable part of your face and plays a significant role in enhancing your personality. Everybody wants to have beautiful shiny hair which is soft and bouncy. A lustrous mane is an indicator of good health and beauty therefore, it is important for you to indulge in proper hair care in order to maintain those gorgeous locks. Exposure of hair to excessive heat such as blow drying, perming, radiation and sunlight damages the hair, stealing it of its natural shine and smoothness.

Maintaining Shiny hair:

Diet: A well balanced and nutritious diet plays an important role in the growth of luminous hair. Intake of a poor diet leads to hair loss, dandruff, split ends and the growth of undernourished hair. Each strand of hair is composed of Keratin. Therefore, a protein rich diet along with essential fatty acids, vitamins and minerals is recommended for proper hair growth. Hair health is directly dependent upon the quality and quantity of nutrition. The right kind of diet can change a lusterless shaft into a shining mane. You must include eggs, fish, liver, cottage cheese, green vegetables, yogurt, coconut, groundnut, chicken etc. in your diet on a regular basis. Supplementing vitamin A, B, E, calcium and cod-liver oil is also a great way of maintaining healthy hair.

Shampoo: This is one of the most essential components of any hair care regime. Shampooing is the best way by means of which you can get rid of dirt and grime, gels, mousse, sprays, pollution etc. A good shampoo does not interfere with the scalp’s natural oil secretion and does not dry out the hair. In order to find the best shampoo for your hair type you must try out a few samples and then decide upon one which is best suited to your hair texture. If you have dry or brittle hair you need a shampoo comprising of Lecithin which is present in egg yolk, greasy hair requires a protein based shampoo with lime, sulfur or cedar. You must avoid the use of any kinds of soaps in order to promote hair shine. Soap tends to leave a dull film on the hair that robs it of its luster making the hair look dull and lank. One of the best ways to maintain shiny hair is by finding two different types of shampoos and conditioners and alternating them every fortnight.

Conditioning: This is the most important step towards maintaining shining hair. Conditioning adds brilliance to all hair types and enables the hair to get a luminous shine. Natural oil secreted by the scalp helps keep the hair glossy. However, these oil glands may not produce enough oil due to various factors. The nature and condition of your hair is determined by the level of moisture it retains. Conditioners help hair that has been exposed to poor bleaching, perming, excess sunlight, radiation etc. Conditioners help in binding the moisture and keeping the hair smooth, soft and lustrous. They also help in removing the tangles and make the hair easier to manage and style. Conditioning treatment is required at least thrice a week in order to maintain the oil and moisture balance. It restores the natural bounce and sheen of your hair.

Oiling: Regular oiling nourishes the roots and gives the hair a shiny, healthy look. Hair must be oiled on a regular basis in order to nourish and give it a shiny look.

Shiny hair is the mirror of your health. It is not all that expensive and tedious to maintain the health of hair. With proper care and intake of a healthy diet you can maintain enviable locks.
