Causes of Sudden and Diffuse Hair Loss

All are very conscious of their hair now-a-days. Any kind of hair problem is a cause of great worry and causes a lot of tension. Hair loss is the problem which is very common among individuals, but is a matter of great concern.

The problem of hair loss at the old age is still tolerable. But, if the hair starts falling suddenly at the young age, it is really worrisome. This sudden and diffuse hair loss in young women can be due to the following health problems:

Anemia
Thyroid Dysfunction
Endocrine problems (especially those producing excess androgens)
Gynecological conditions – such as ovarian tumors
Connective tissue disease (such as Lupus)
Surgical procedures
Weight loss techniques or crash diets that are not nutritionally balanced
Severe emotional stress

Apart from these health problems, sudden and diffuse hair loss can also occur due to certain medications such as oral contraceptives, thyroid medicines, blood pressure medication, blood thinners, cholesterol lowering medications, anti-inflammatory drugs such as cortisone, vitamin A or tryptophan in high doses, and street drugs (such as cocaine or LSD).

Hair loss can also be caused due to seasonal variations. Change in weather may be a cause of hair loss. Any kind of nutritional deficiency of zinc, amino acid, and iron can also lead to hair loss. It is very important to have a proper diet to retain the moisture content of the hair.

Some people skip meals and don’t have proper diet to keep them in shape. But, in this process they forget that it may have side effects too. One should perform exercises to remain healthy and slim, and reduce the diet. Proper diet with the required nutrition, vitamins, and iron content should be taken to restrict hair loss.

It is true that hair loss is a problem of great concern. But the same can be overcome, if proper care is taken of the hair and the diet. It is always better to find a solution, rather than cribbing on the issue. Tension can aggravate the problem, rather than curing it.
