Foods for Healthy Hair

Long, glossy, and silky hair is the look that is desired by everyone. But, to achieve such a look, it is also important to take care of the hair in a very proper manner. Any kind of negligence can be harmful for the hair and may cause the hair to fall pr become thin. Therefore, one should make sure that she uses the appropriate hair care products that are suitable for her type. But, is that enough? The answer is no. One cannot obtain healthy and good quality hair, unless one provides the appropriate vitamins and nutrients to the hair.

It is very important that the hair gets the required amount of vitamins and minerals so that they get enough room to grow in a healthy manner. Thus, proper diet should be taken by an individual, so that there is no kind of hair breakage or hair thinning. Dull, frizzy, dry greasy and brittle hair are the causes of improper diet. Also, it is to be noted that as people grow with age, there is a reduction in the supply of blood to the hair follicles. To increase the blood supply process, there is a need to provide appropriate nutrients to the hair follicles.

The most important nutrients and vitamins for healthy hair growth are omega 3 fatty acids, vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin F, zinc and silica. Foods that are rich in omega 3 fatty acids are fish oil, walnuts, and kiwi, which protect the hair from becoming dry. Vitamin A rich foods include tomatoes, carrots, spinach, peaches, and diary products.

The circulation in the scalp is improved with the help of vitamin E. Whole wheat, dark green vegetables and nuts are rich in vitamin E. Vegetable oils and sunflower seeds are good food sources of vitamin F, which helps to reduce the risk of dandruff and dry hair. Zinc is a very important mineral that helps to guard against hair loss, and includes foods such as beans, mushrooms, lean red meat and whole grains. Silica helps to strengthen the hair and prevents hair loss. Seafood, leafy green vegetables and brown rice are very good foods rich in silica.

So, one should definitely include the above said foods for healthy hair, apart from the hair care products available in the market.
