Hair Care During Pregnancy
Pregnancy is the most crucial time in a woman’s life, and is the happiest time too. It is normally believed that a woman should remain happy at this time to have a cheerful baby. It is also a common belief that women’s hair are at their best during pregnancy. Going for hair color during pregnancy can also be a boon, thus enhancing the look of the hair and lifting the women’s spirits.
However, in most of the cases, it is observed that women face heavy hair loss after giving birth to the baby. In some cases, when women stop breast feeding their children, they may again face the problem of hair loss.
It is very important to know about the following instances in case of a pregnant woman, so that one can have adequate hair care during pregnancy.
There are certain hormones in the human body, which enable the hair to grow for a longer period of time, when a woman is pregnant or is in the breast feeding stage. However, 12 weeks later, after giving birth to the baby, the hair of the women enter into the resting stage.
In such an instance, the hair that have been in the resting phase are shed out. Thus, it would be wrong to interpret such a kind of hair loss as excessive hair loss, as it is just an adjournment of a natural occurrence. Such a condition is known as post-partum alopecia.
In certain cases, the hair of women may become dry and fragile during pregnancy. This may occur on account of a decrease in the required protein level of the hair. Protein is an important element that determines the quality of the hair. So, it is very important to maintain the adequate amount of protein required for the hair. Thus, in such cases, it is advisable to use appropriate conditioner for your hair.
It should also be made sure that women don’t go for perming during pregnancy. In pregnancy, the hair of the women is in an altered state. Thus, going for perming can give erratic results, which can be harmful for the hair.
