Hair Loss in Children
The problem of hair loss is not only severe in men and women, but is also a cause of great concern in children. In children, the hair loss is really an embarrassing condition, thus taking away a lot of confidence of the children. It is true that the problem of hair loss is not faced by many children, but those who face it are in great trouble.
Some children overcome the problem of hair loss by taking several treatments, but some of them have to face this situation for the entire life.
The major causes of hair loss in children are discussed below:
Tinea Capitis
It is a kind of infection that has an impact on the skin, eyebrows, eyelashes and scalp. Such a problem is very common among children and is often referred as ring worm. There may be itching in the scalp that may result in hair loss in the form of round patches. Such a problem is caused as a result of a parasite which comes through the use of hair care products, combs, and brushes etc. thus, it is very important to ensure that the kid does not share his products with anyone else. Antifungal medicines can be taken to cure the problem.
Children’s Trichotillimania
Such a condition occurs in extreme stress and trauma where hair loss occurs due to pulling of hair. In such a case, a child’s psychiatrist must be consulted to diagnose the problem and treat it. Patches of hair can be pulled out in some cases, which may put the parents in great tension. So, consult the psychiatrist immediately to treat the problem.
Traction Alopecia
Traction Alopecia is a condition of hair loss which is very common among girls. Styling the hair and using chemicals on the hair are the major reasons for such a kind of hair loss. it is advised not to give mush chemical treatment on the child’s hair as the child’s hair are fragile and delicate. Don’t let the child go for hair styles that pull the hair and may cause hair loss.
