Hair Salon Etiquettes
Hair salons follow their only rules and etiquette. If you are unsure of ins and outs of hair salon customs and manners, read on.
To make sure you are getting the best of services at a hair salon, follow these simple suggestions.
• Most hair salons have a cancellation policy so if you can’t make it your appointments, let the staff know as soon as possible to avoid keeping them waiting for you.
• Arrive at least ten minutes before the appointment, so that the salon staff gets ready.
• It is very important to explain to the salon staff what you are looking for. Take as much time you want to make sure you both mutually decide on the look that you want.
• If the salon staff recommends some salon products, it is because they feel it would be best for your hair. However if you are not interested or if it does not suit your budget, don’t be afraid to say no. The stylist may be able to give you other suggestions would suit your budget.
• A salon, like a restaurant is a service industry and good service must be acknowledged. Tipping is generally expected in most salons. About 10% to 15% of the cost of service demonstrates that you are happy with the service. More than that would mean that you really appreciate the work and service they have provided you with.
• Don’t forget to tip all the assistants and helpers who helped your stylist at the salon. Generally a 5% of the cost of service is standard.
• It is not necessary to tip the salon owner.
• If there is something that you don’t like about the salon or the service, don’t be afraid to voice it. Infact the hair salon owner, manager and stylist needs to know what’s happening and what their customers think of them.
Convey your thoughts and allow them to make modifications.
