Home Remedies to Get Rid of Oily & Greasy Hair

Oily hair leads to clamped, greasy looking hair which is prone to dandruff and itchiness.  Most of the times, oily hair is due to hereditary, hormonal imbalance or due to usage of too many styling hair products which build up over time.

Oily hair can also lead to acne and other skin related ailments. A variety of products are available in the market to get rid of oily and greasy hair. However most of these products are chemically formulated. This article contains home remedies to help get rid of this problem.

The first and most important tip is to keep hair clean. Wash hair at least 3 times a week with a mild shampoo followed with a mild conditioner. The next most important thing to remember is to keep hair away from direct sun light, winds and harsh chemicals.

A paste of henna, strained coffee water, boiled lemon juice and egg white can do wonders to cure this problem. Apply a thick paste of this mixture on your scalp and hair and leave it on for at least 30 minutes. Rinse with warm water and repeat the process after 15 days.

If this process seems lengthy, mix whites of two eggs with the juice of one lemon. Apply the mixture for 30 minutes on scalp and hair and wash using a mild shampoo. Repeat the procedure every week.

Warm oil and massage it on scalp once or twice a week. Leave the oil on the scalp overnight for best results. Wash hair using a mild shampoo. It is a misconception that oiling hair would lead to greasy hair. Infact oil gives hair necessary nutrients that are needed for growth of healthy hair.

Combine semi hibiscus leaves with half a litre of water. Wash hair with this mixture to reduce greasiness and boost hair volume and gloss. The mixture feels like shampoo which is less frothy and chemical free.
