How To Wash A Wig
Proper washing of a wig is as important as washing the hair. It is recommended that one should wash the wig after wearing it for 12-15 times. The color and texture of the wigs fade away with time. Washing a human hair wig is much easier than washing the synthetic hair wig. The steps to follow for washing a wig are mentioned below.
Take a wig brush and brush the wig gently, so as to get rid of all the tangles.
Take cold water and fill the sink with it.
Add wig shampoo to the water, about one tablespoon.
Now, put the wig in the soapy water. Run your fingers through the wig for around 2-3 minutes to get rid of the dirt in the wig.
There might be some make up stains on the wig. In order to get rid of these make up stains, make use of the soft tooth brush. In case the make up stains are strong, make a paste of baking soda and shampoo and apply.
Now make sure to soak the wig in the water for around five minutes.
Thereafter, throw the soapy water from the sink, and fill it with clean and cold water.
The wig is then rinsed in the clean water, so as to get rid of the shampoo from the wig.
One may have to rinse the wig 2-3 times, so that all the shampoo is removed from the wig.
Take a dry towel and blot the wig onto it in a very gentle way.
Make sure that you don’t squeeze the wig.
Now, put the wig on a wig stand, and let it air dry.
After some time, turn the wig inside out and let it dry by laying the wig flat.
One can also spray wig conditioner on the wig.
After the wig is completely dried, style the wig with various accessories.
The steps to wash wigs, which have been listed above, are very easy and simple, and should be followed on a regular basis to maintain the life of the wig for a longer period of time.
