Is Shrinkage Normal When Starting Dreadlocks?

There is no doubt that dreadlocks shrink with time. The shrinkage of dreadlocks is mostly seen in the beginning. Dreadlocks may be created by back combing or by mistake. They are in the form of huge knots. Whatever may be the reason for dreadlocks, they are going to shrink. Shrinkage of dreadlocks is very natural and is a very normal process.

Let us here take an example of a string. A string which is a bit curvy in nature and is absolutely tangle free is taken. The string is then rolled in the palms for some seconds. One would observe that the string gets tangled in the form of a ball. Thereafter, an individual would observe that the string gets shortened. This is how the dreadlocks shrink. After the dreadlocks are formed, they begin to shrink in a day or two. It does not matter whether the dreadlocks are formed intentionally or by way of neglect. Whatever be the method of their formation, they are going to shrink.

Dreadlocks are tied in a very loose knot, which is very weak. So, as soon as the hair are washed, the dreadlocks are removed. The hair type also plays a great role in the formation of dreadlocks. The stronger the hair, the longer would be the duration of the dreadlocks. But, it is sure that they would shrink very soon. Any kind of fiddling with the hair would make them lose their shape very soon. It is very important to give full time to the dreadlocks to perform their shrinking process and get mature. Once the dreadlocks have reached their maximum level of shrinking and have matured very well, they really look great. There is no doubt that dreadlocks become very small when they are completely mature and look very strong, tight and resilient. One can really tie the mature dreadlocks in the form of knots, and go for swimming or have a shower, while retaining their mature look.

Thus, it is advised to have some patience and let the dreadlocks shrink completely and get mature, so that they look pretty and help in enhancing the looks.
