First of all, it is very necessary to stop the habit of biting nails.
A nail hardener should be used to protect the nails from peeling and splitting.
One should definitely include vitamin E in the diet so that the nails grow in a strong manner.
Proper filing of the nails should be done from time to time to prevent any kind of breakage in the nails. Make sure that the filing of the nails is done in a proper way from one corner to the other, in a single direction.
Nails which are short and square in shape should have nail polish of dark color.
It is recommended not to use acetone based nail polish remover on the nails for removing nail polish, as the nails would be eaten as a result. Thus, one should always make use of non-acetone nail polish removers.
Cuticles should not be cut and pushed back. This would result in weakening the nails and may result in stimulating new growth.
Any kind of hard instruments should not be used for cleaning the nails. Nailbrush and soap should be used for cleaning the nails.
