Tips for Curly Hair
Curls, waves, twists and tussles are back with trend setters like Beyonce, Christina Aguilera among others wearing beautiful curls. Curly hair as compared to straight hair is much dryer, brittle, prone to frizzing and fragile. Thus, it requires much more care and maintenance. Read on to know more about how to manage curly hair.
Shampooing: Limit the number of times you shampoo your hair to twice a week as shampooing can remove the natural oils from your hair. Various shampoos are available which are specifically formulated for curly hair.
Conditioner: Make sure you include a conditioner in your hair cleansing routine. Also use a leave – in – conditioner once every week to re-moisturize your scalp and hair.
Combs and Hair Brushes: Avoid using narrow toothed combs and brushes. It is advisable to use wide toothed combs which results in less breakage and frizzing.
Detangling: To detangle curly hair, moist your hair and condition it well. First use fingertips to untangle the hair. After this, use a wide toothed comb to detangle hair. Detangling curly hair when it is dry will cause it to frizz.
Frizzing: To avoid frizzing of hair, avoid brushing and usage of towel to dry hair. If you are in a hurry and want hair to dry quickly, use a towel to blot your hair but do not rub it with the towel.
Styling: Use only small amounts of hair styling products. Make sure you read ingredients and choose a product which contains a moisturizer. This will keep hair moist and will avoid frizzing. Also apply the styling product evenly.
Touching: Avoid touching and playing with hair as more friction would cause it to tangle and frizz more.
Hair stylist: Not all hair stylist professionals know how to manage and work with curl hair. Infact there are many who specifically specialize in curly hair. Curly hair needs to be cut when wet so that the natural shape can be seen.
