Tips for Dry Hair
Heated appliances like hair straighteners, curlers or even blow dryers would cause hair to lose moisture and become dry. Usage of additives like hair colour and dyes and swimming or frequent shampooing could also dry hair resulting in split ends.
For healthy, shiny and split-end free hair, read the following tips.
Mayonnaise: Massage a dollop of mayonnaise on the scalp and hair. Leave it on for five minutes and rinse it off with warm water.
Beer: If mayonnaise does not help, spray beer on the hair. Beer works as a good setting lotion, which leaves glossy and healthy hair. Empty the contents of half a beer can in an empty pump bottle and apply on hair after shampooing and towel drying of hair. After the beer has been on the hair for about five minutes, you can style or blow – dry it as per your choice.
Shampooing: Do not shampoo hair every day. In fact it is advisable to shampoo only twice a week as shampooing can strip off natural oils that are needed for shiny and healthy hair. Excess shampooing gives a dry and floppy look. Numerous shampoos are available in the market that has been specially formulated for dry or damaged hair.
Conditioning: Dry hair problem can be solved by conditioning after shampooing. Conditioning prevents frizzing of hair and is a must in daily hair care routine.
Heat appliances: Heat producing appliances like irons, dryers, curlers or straighteners can severely damage the hair over a period of time. It is best to replace a blow dryer with a towel. Electric curlers should be replaced with plastic rollers or sponge rollers or moist braids which do not need to be heated.
Cover head: It is advisable to keep the hair safely covered under a hat during a windy or sunny day. This will help protect the hair from drying out.
Trimming: Trimming hair every six to eight weeks will keep them in control and will prevent split ends.
