Trimming Long Hair
Everybody has a different preference and choice of how long the length of their hair should be. Some like it short while some like it long. In spite of knowing that long hair require extra care and maintenance, women with long hair prefer to keep the length of their hair long. This is fine as long as the hair is healthy. One way to keep hair healthy and looking beautiful is by regularly trimming hair. Typically by regular is meant once every 8 weeks. Regular trimming would also result in more and healthy growth of hair.
Long hair can get severely damaged by various environmental conditions and heat styling products. The best way to observe this is by examining the density of the hair at the scalp as well as the ends. If you hair thins out at the bottom, if you have split ends, if it gets fizzy or frayed at the ends, it is time for a trim. Using an elastic band for 18 – 20 hours every day can also result in damage of hair resulting in sparse ends.
Split ends can be treated with a protein rich conditioner to strengthen hair. Various anti frizz serums that cover the hair bind the ends together temporarily. However in severe cases trimming is needed to remove these split ends.
Trimming ends of the hair and removing damaged cells is easy when your hair is cut in a blunt hairstyle. However long hair with layered hairstyles is slightly more difficult to get rid of damaged ends. To do so, follow the steps. Brush out hair and remove all tangles. It is a good idea to use clips to hold hair which you are not working with.
Divide the sections you are working with into two inch segments and twist the hair along the length. The layered ends and the split ends will be easily visible along the length of the segment. Do so for all the segments of the sections and then move on to the next section. Doing so regularly would result in healthier looking, smooth and shiny hair.
