Why Doesn’t This Lipstick Look Right On Me
It is not necessary that a particular lip shade that looks good on someone else would suit you also. The color and complexion of each and every individual is different. In some cases, it may also appear that the color of the lipstick that appears on the cover may not give the desired result. The actual color is known only when one applies it. The true color is shown by the underlying or undertone color in the lipstick.
To know your undertone color, test a lipstick on a piece of white paper and see the color that you find besides it. It is actually easy to define the undertone color on the white paper rather than testing on the skin.
Let us here take an example of a brown colored lipstick. The various undertone colors that one might see in this case are described below.
Red/pink: If the undertone color achieved is red or pink, it may appear to be warmer and deeper. This kind of shade may bring out the red tones from the skin.
Yellow/orange: Yellow or orange shade gives a softer and warmer look. This looks perfect on people with warm skin tones. However, those having pale skin cannot stand this color, making the skin go sluggish.
Green/blue: This undertone color makes the lipstick appear dramatically deeper. This color makes one feel as if she is standing in the fluorescent lighting.
Silver/grey: Silver or grey adds softness and depth. Ensure that the color is not much on the blue/grey side. However, such a color can let the dark circles under the eye stand out.
Green: One may look cool in such a color, but may also want to add more color.
Therefore, it is very important to determine the undertone color, before going for a lip shade, so as to decide as to which color would suit your skin tone the best.
